Marilyn Manson hat seine derzeitige „Stimmung“ via MySpace mitgeteilt: „creative kreative“.
Die Arbeit am neuen Album der Band hat somit begonnen – Mr. Manson beweist dies mit seinem aktuellen Post:
Hier eine Zusammenfassung über die bisher bekannten Fakten zum 8. Studioalbum von Marilyn Manson:
- * Die Arbeit am neuen Studioalbum wurde von Marilyn Manson persönlich erstmals in einem Interview mit dem britischen Metal Hammer Magazin am 03. Dezember 2009 bestätigt.
- * Erste Ideen zum Album sind bereits während der Tour zu “The High End Of Low“ entstanden: “Wir haben angefangen, auf der derzeitigen Tour an neuen Songs zu arbeiten – ein bisschen wie [David Bowie's Album] ’Aladdin Sane’…” so Manson dazu.
- * In Bezug auf seine Versöhnung mit Evan Rachel Wood und seinen Split von Stoya äußerte sich Manson, dass der lyrische Inhalt des Albums “romantischer” und zugleich “selbstzerstörerisch” sein wird.
- * Im Dezember wurde öffentlich, dass der Vertrag zwischen Marilyn Manson und seinem bisherigen Label Interscope aufgelöst wurde: “Wir wurden gerade aus unserem unserem Plattenvertrag bei Interscope entlassen, der uns immer wieder bei vielen kreativen Entscheidungen die Hände gebunden hatte…”
Marilyn Manson steht allerdings immer noch ohne Label da – die Veröffentlichung eines Albums auf Medien außerhalb des Internets gestaltet sich so schwierig.
- * In einem aktuellen Interview bestätigt Chris Vrenna, Keyboarder und musikalischer Kopf von Marilyn Manson, erste Konzeptionen zum Album: “Right now we are just talking and coming up with concepts for it.“

In der amerikanischen Online-Community VampireFreaks.com wurde ein aktuelles Interview des Journalisten Rafi Shlosman mit Chris Vrenna, Keyboarder und musikalischer Kopf von Marilyn Manson, veröffentlicht. In dem lesenswerten Gespräch berichtet Vrenna neben seinem bisherigen musikalischen Werdegang u.a. auch von seiner Zeit bei Marilyn Manson, die Entwicklung der Band und dem nächsten Album.
Hier der Ausschnitt aus dem Interview, der sich um Chris Vrenna und Marilyn Manson dreht:

Rafi: One odd detail I noticed about your credits in production is that you have been in some way involved with almost every Marilyn Manson album since ‘Portrait of an American Family’. Does it seem now as if everything was leading up to you becoming a core member of Manson?
Chris Vrenna: Yeah I worked on ‘Portrait of an American Family’, the ‘Dope Hat’ EP, and ‘Antichrist Superstar’ was the really big one. However when it came to the next album (‘Mechanical Animals’) that was when the team kind of fell apart. Right after Antichrist was when Trent and I went our own ways, and I didn’t work on anything until ‘Lest We Forget’. ‘Eat Me, Drink Me’ was all Tim Skold. But yeah I have been in and out of the camp since the very beginning.
Rafi: Do you think in a way it has been leading to this point where you are a core member of the band?
Chris Vrenna: I guess so, honestly I never really thought about it at all. The one year that Manson took off from touring to do ‘Eat Me, Drink Me’ I went out and did a tour with Gnarls Barkley, which is a project that everyone was shocked I was involved with after touring with someone like Manson. All I can say to that is “why? Because it is hip hop or soul. Do you not think I have a soul? Because I am white you don’t think I can groove? What are you trying to say fucker?” (both of us laughing). That band and their live shows were amazing, I loved working with them.
Rafi: It would appear Manson is going through a huge leap from his music to his lyrics, what insight can you give us to what happened, what roll you are playing in it, and what do you see the future holding for the band?
Chris Vrenna: I know some people are having some issues with the changes the band/Manson has made and all I can is “fuck off!” I personally love the record and think it is one of the ballsiest he has done. Yeah so it is not the typical four to the floor stomp beats and he is not running around in pantyhose anymore, it was just his birthday recently and he turned 41 and I am 43, you just can’t like you are 21 forever. You look like an idiot, you have to mature as an artist and reflect on other things in your life and world. I just can’t stand that people can be so closed minded about the whole thing, “this doesn’t sound like Hate Anthem…” well than go listen to Hate Anthem then. (both of us laughing) This has been ongoing thing though, when you think about it every Manson album has been pretty different, after ‘Antichrist Superstar’ ‘Mechanical Animals’ came out and people hated it because they were not the same album. Artists should write what is in their hearts at the time, so it is obvious that Manson was feeling more about the emotional aspects of his life rather than politics and religion. Who knows what he is going to feel this time around?
Rafi: Have you guys already started talking about the new album?
Chris Vrenna: Right now we are just talking and coming up with concepts for it. We just got back from the tour Dec. 23rd and it was really a long and brutal tour this time. We usually go for about five weeks and take a week off, this time around we really had no time off at all.

Aktualisierung: Die Pro-Shots sind nicht mehr online – Steve hat die Videos entfernt…
Der Videograf der vergangenen “The High End Of Low”-Tour, Steve genannt, hat auf seinem YouTube-Channel nach längerer Pause neue Live-Videos veröffentlicht. Erstmals jedoch handelt es sich um sogenannte Pro-Shots – professionell bearbeitete und zusammengeschnittene Videos – die auf eine mögliche Tour-DVD hindeuten:

Nach Vermutungen und Gerüchten hat Marilyn Manson die Verlobung mit seiner Freundin, Schauspielerin Evan Rachel Wood, mit einem MySpace-Foto „offiziell“ bestätigt:
Laut einem Bericht im amerikanischen Marilyn Manson Forum sollen beide seit dem Konzert am 21. Dezember 2009 in Paris verlobt sein. Das Ganze fand jedoch nicht, wie in den Medien berichtet, öffentlich auf der Bühne, sondern „Backstage“ im Vorfeld des Konzertes statt.

Ursprüngliche News:
Verschiedene Medien haben in den letzten Tagen das Gerücht verbreitet, dass sich Marilyn Manson und seine Freundin Evan Rachel Wood verlobt haben und die Heirat planen. Den Ursprung dieser Nachricht bildete eine Meldung auf der Webseite der englischen Zeitung Mirror. Diese berichtete von einem Heiratsantrag live auf der Bühne während eines angeblichen Konzertes am 04. Januar in Paris. Die Unstimmigkeiten dieser Meldung liegen jedoch darin, dass

a.) Marilyn Manson weder am 04. oder 05. Januar ein Konzert noch eine anderweitige öffentliche Veranstaltung gab!
b.) Marilyn Manson und Evan Rachel Wood am angeblichen Tag nicht mehr in Paris verweilten!
c.) Die letzte Show in Paris am 21. Dezember stattfand und es da unter den tausenden Konzertbesuchern keinen einzigen Zeugen gibt, der einen solchen Antrag bemerkt haben will.
d.) Es bis jetzt keine einzige offizielle Stellungnahme oder Meldung gibt.

Von daher ist mit dieser Nachricht bis auf weiteres skeptisch umzugehen und eine offizielle Mitteilung von Manson oder Wood abzuwarten.
